We arrived at Disneyland at around 5pm. We were there for their Halloween event which didn’t officially start until 6pm. We actually could of gotten in at 3pm, but we had a family emergency that morning which delayed us. Anyway, there was specific entrance for the Halloween party guest. It’s on the far right side. When you enter from there, you get a special wristband and a trick or treat bag.
We went through Tomorrowland first where one trick or treat was already open. They closed the Innoventions attraction early and put trick or treat stations in it. My candy bag was more than half full just from this first stop! We tried to see how long Space Mountains line was and it was 50 mins with all fast passes used for the day. So we went to Matterhorn and it was broken down.
So we went over to Toon Town since they close at 7. We did a few trick or treat station over there. Then we rode Roger Rabbit which was one of my favorites as a kid. It was pretty bland riding it nowadays, but it’s still a lot of fun. Then I went to Gadget’s Go Coaster, the parks Vekoma Roller Skater. It’s an exact clone of Road Runner Express at Six Flags Magic Mountain, but has a transfer and storage track so it can run two trains…which it currently wasn’t running. Even with one train, it moves very quickly. It’s amazing how smooth it runs though!
Matterhorn reopened after that, but the line was kinda long. It went down to all the way to Nemo…yikes. But luckily they added a single rider line which had zero line! This was my first time riding Matterhorn since the refurbishment. I use to hate it due to how rough it was, but now it feels like a new B&M! I’m actually not kidding, it’s that smooth! It still kinda jerks you around turns as the turns were poorly designed like any old Arrow. Overall an awesome ride and I love that it goes with no trim brakes on!
Next I did Finding Nemo which was a walk on. We had about a half full submarine which is quite astonishing.
The park was finally closed and the party officially started! Space now said 15 mins, but they tend to over inflate their wait times by 10 mins. So pretty much a walk-on! This coaster actually provided a decent thrill. The pacing on this ride is unbelievable. It’s pretty much full speed the entire ride. With the 10 or so MCBRs, none of them trim you which is awesome! Also it was Ghost Galaxy for Halloween which makes it even better! Though the projections were kinda wonky.
Then I did Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, which is an awesome shooting dark ride. Because I was by myself, I got double guns!
Next, I headed over to the other side of the park. First I did Indiana Jones which was walk on.
After that, I rode the new Big Thunder Mountain which was also walk on! The new Dynamic Attractions version I think ruins the ride. I’m a diehard classic coaster person and I absolutely hate that it’s no longer Arrow. It’s now an Arrow layout, but doesn’t feel like one now. I am counting it as a new credit as all the classic arrow track was removed and is no longer an Arrow. Not to mention feels a lot different.
After those, I headed back to Matterhorn as I needed to experience a REAL Arrow coaster.
Next I had dinner a Pizza Port, as my favorite restaurant was closed for the night.
After dinner, it was time for another round on Space Mountain!
Next I tried the new Star Tours for the first time and oh boy was it bad. It’s almost as bad as Wild Arctic now. The new story makes no logical sense, the 3D is useless, and the ride is just super short now. Overall just a terrible ride.
Next, I did Pirates! 90% of the boats were completely empty! It was awesome! Still a great ride after many years!
Sorry for the terrible quality picture, but I didn’t have much time to take a long exposure. Anyway, Haunted Mansion Holiday had the biggest line at 10 mins! Overall, the ride hasn’t changed much over the years…at least for the Holiday version. The only big change is in the elevator to the station. Also saw the new Hat Box Ghost all the millions of Disney fanboys were going crazy about…it’s pretty average…it wasn’t even changed for the holiday version which made it look really out of place.
Did Big Thunder one last time before going to my favorite ride in the park.
And oh no, the parade blocked the only path to Space Mountain and there was only 5 mins left before closing…
I got lucky enough to get on Space with like 2 mins to spare.
Overall, I had a great time! If Disney was like this all the time, I would have a much nicer opinion about the park. During regular park hours, the park is gross and is so packed, you can’t walk down any of the midways. That and the outrageous prices are why I haven’t gone in almost 5 years! But the Halloween party was a complete throwback to how things use to be. It was a lot of fun!
